Collective Bargaining Agreements

No strike/lockout clauses

Permanent Status

Due Process and discipline only for just cause

A well-defined system of seniority

Seniority at least one factor in hiring.  Seniority principal factor in layoffs and recalls.

Allowing for group grievances or special procedures for handling group problems in employee relations.

Arbitration

Non-discrimination based on marital and parental status

Discounted or free tuition for employees

Employees allowed to count course work as work time if courses are required for job

Free undergrad education for children after X years of service

Employee representation on career-development committee

Employee representation on EAP, family and child care committees

Joint management/employee committee on job classification

Restrictions on the work that can be outsourced.

Management/employee consultation about outsourcing

Overtime paid at 1.5 times the rate for hours worked outside normal 8 hour schedule.

All leave time counted as part of 40 hour work week for purposes of overtime computation.
